skin cancer Skin cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in man. About 1.3 million new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in Unites States every year. The most frequent sign of skin cancer is a change in the appearance of the skin, like a new growth or a sore that does not heal. There are three specific kinds skin cancer:
Melanoma is the least common and yet the most dangerous type of skin cancer. Each type of skin cancer requires its own custom-designed treatment. Skin cancer is diagnosed using a skin biopsy. Any suspicious skin spot that resembles a cancerous condition should be biopsied (or removed) and studied under microscope.
As opposed to melanoma, treatment for BCC and SCC is fairly simple. These cancers almost never spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body. They can, however, cause damage by growing and invading surrounding tissues. The main goal in treating skin cancer is to remove or destroy the cancer completely with good cosmetic results and minimal scar formation. Treatment for each patient is customized to the location and size of the skin cancer, the risk of scar formation, and the person's age, general health, and medical history. examples of skin cancer
