raised moles: Raised moles refer to moles that are elevated above the level of the surrounding skin. If you close your eyes and touch these moles you will feel a bump with your fingertips. Great majority of these moles are benign and have been present since childhood or for a long time.
Benign raised moles cause absolutely no harm and as a rule do not transform to a cancerous mole (melanoma). For some, they are unwanted and can be easily removed, while for others they enhance the appearance (hence the name “beauty spot”).
Treatments for raised moles: Each benign raised mole needs a treatment plan. The goal of this treatment plan is to remove the mole without leaving a scar at the site of the mole. Quite often, the first step in treating large moles is to debulk them with cryotherapy. Freezing a large mole is an easy procedure and it is generally well tolerated.
On occasions, I numb the skin with a local anesthetic to make the process of freezing virtually painless. Our tolerance to the discomfort of freezing a raised mole is variable. Some individuals tolerate this procedure quite well, and some need to have a local anesthetic. I accommodate these requests and make sure that everyone is comfortable during the treatment.
In general, most large raised moles need a few treatments to make them flat. Once this is achieved, there may still be a tiny remnant of the mole, which I usually remove with Dermabrasion.
Below are some examples of my work.
The above raised mole was quite bulky. I treated it only once. The patient came back six months later, when the follow-up image taken. By this time, the skin had completely normalized and there was absolutely no evidence of the mole. This amazing result, which does not happen at all times, was achieved without the need for surgery or costly laser treatment.
As opposed to surgery, Cryotherapy does not leave any scars. Once the mole is gone, new skin cells will populate the treated area. Over time, the color and looks of new skin will blend in with the rest of the skin. This normalization process will take several months. The video here shows how easy it is to apply Cryotherapy to the skin.
course of treatment for a actual raised mole: I am commonly asked about the course of treatment for a mole and what kind of results we may see after each treatment., etc. Please click here to see an example of how an actual raised mole in one of my patients responded to cryotherapy over time, and how it gradually faded away. Things not to do with moles; home remedies for mole removalIf you are interested in having a mole removed from your skin, see a physician who can do it for your correctly. Worst thing you can do to yourself, and to your skin, is buying something on internet and applying it to your ski. Before you know, you will end up with a problem that will be much harder to treat, than the mole you tried to treat.
Below are some examples of what home remedies can do to your skin. This young woman used a product which she purchased on the internet. Unfortunately she ended up with two small keloids and hyperthrophic scars on her arm as well as loss of pigment of her skin where she applied the product..
