malignant skin growths

Malignant skin growths refer to various types of cancers that can involve the skin.  Skin cancer is the most common form of human cancer, with over two million new cases diagnosed in Unites States annually. The most common sign of skin cancer is a change in the appearance of the skin, like a new growth or a sore that will not heal. Common skin cancers are categorized into four different large cancer entities:"

  1. Basal Cell Carcinoma
  2. Squamous Cell Carcinoma
  3. Melanomas
  4. Lymphoma of skin

Diagnosis of skin cancer is made by performing a skin biopsy.  The suspicious area is sampled or removed and sent to a pathologist for analysis and evaluation under microscope.

Treatment of Basal Cell Carcinoma of the skin, as well as  Squamous Cell Carcinoma, is much easier than treatment of Melanoma.  These cancers almost never spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body. They can, however, cause damage by growing and invading surrounding tissue.

They usually begin as a small skin bump and they grow over time. The main goal is to remove or destroy the cancer completely with as small as a scar as possible. Treatment for each patient is customized to the location and size of the cancer, the risk of scarring, and the person's age, general health, and medical history.

Dr. Tirgan provides various forms of treatment for skin cancer, including surgical and non surgical treatments.   It is always an easy task to cut out someone's skin cancer form their face or ear.  The difficult task is, when possible, to treat these cancer without surgery, so that at the end of the treatment, you have no scars and no cancer.  That is an art.

Dr. Tirgan does his best to limit and minimize harm and damage to your skin.  As a cancer specialist, he is best suited to manage your skin cancer.
