Keloids take on a variety of shapes and forms, and appear in any part of the skin.

Earlobe Keloids appear as a ball of tissue growing on one or both sides of the earlobe.

Facial Keloids appear as either flat lines or nodules, and are due to either acne or in-grown hair. This condition is more common in African Americans as opposed to individulas with other skin types.

Nodular Keloids are commonly seen in individuals African American skin types. The Keloid tissue forms in shape of a ball. The Keloid nodule remains round with a glossy surface and as it grows, it maintains its round appearance unless it transforms into a massive Keloid, when it looses its Round appearance.

Flat Keloids grow and spead on the surface of the skin and hardly form a nodule. They have a tendency to spead laterally. This is the most common form of Keloid seen in Caucasians and individulas with light and fair skin color.

Bulky Keloids can grow on any part of the body, including the face. They are either a conglumerate of several nodules that merge with each other, or are due to a overgrowth of a single nodule that continues to increase in size. These Keloids can interfere with daily life, as they can be noticeable under thin clothing, or they can be irritated or even pulled during sleep when the person tosses and turn in bed and wake the person up with pain from pulling.

Massive Keloids are the keloids that grow in a lrage region of the body, like neck area. Such Keloids find no boundaries and will spread in all directions. Massvie Keloids interfere with range of motion of the organ that is involved. In cases of massive Keloids in the neck, the individual can loose the ability to turn his neck.
