Skin cysts are benign growths that cause a lump to be felt or seen under the skin.  Quite often, these cysts develop in scalp.  Removal of skin cysts is easy and is done as an outpatient procedure. Skin Cysts are non-cancerous.  They are closed pockets of tissue that can be filled with fluid, pus, or other material.  Cysts are common on the skin and can appear anywhere, specially on the scalp.  They feel like small pea or a lump under the skin. Most skin cysts can be removed under local anesthesia and in the office.  The procedure takes 20-30 minutes.  The extracted tissue is always sent to a pathology laboratory for microscopic examination.
