Welcome to skin212.com

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. My name is Doctor Michael Tirgan. I practice medicine in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Skin212.com represents a portion of my medical practice that is dedicated to treatment of skin growths and skin tumors skin moles, keloids, skin cysts, warts and other benign and malignant conditions that involve the skin.

Skin lesions that result in a growth are quite often benign. Almost everyone at some point in life develops a growth on the skin. The most common of these are skin tags, that can develop is all parts of our body, most commonly in the neck, under the arms or groins.

Treatment of benign skin growths is by methods that results in destruction of these lesions. In removing these, I often use a method known as Cryotherapy. Using cryotherapy, a very limited frostbite is induced in the tissue or the spot that we plan to remove. This can be a benign mole, warts, skin tags, skin growths, keloids, dark spots, etc. This controlled frostbite results in destruction of the cells that make up the unwanted spot. Once this is achieved, the normal repair mechanisms of skin are activated and the healing of the skin begins. Over subsequent days, a scab forms on the site of the treatment, which then falls off in about two to three weeks. Cryotherapy is very safe and very effective and leaves no scars. Above all, it is much more economical than alternatives such as laser treatment or surgery.

In treating skin growths, we need to accept certain medical facts:

  • Medicine is Not an Exact Science. Treatment outcome and results for a particular skin condition will vary among different individuals.
  • Patience is of Essence. Most skin growth conditions require more that one treatment. Immediate results after the first treatment may not be totally satisfactory. Full healing of the skin may take several weeks to months.
  • Commitment to Treatment Plan is the first step towards success. With few exceptions (i.e. angiomas, skin tags), most skin growth conditions require a treatment plan to which we need to adhere, much like following a roadmap to reach to a destination.
